An unidentified man allegedly shot a Protestant student from Jamia Millia Islamia during a protest against the CAA in the Jamia area of Delhi on Thursday. The accused, who has now been arrested, allegedly shouted "who wants Azadi" before opening fire.
The incident occurred when protesters, including students from Jamia Millia Islamia, marched towards Rajghat to protest the Citizens Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Citizens Register.

The attacker allegedly shouted who wanted azadi before opening fire at the protest. Kisko chahiye azadi? Main dunga azadi [Who wants freedom? I will give freedom], he said.
A video shared by the ANI news agency shows a man wielding a gun as he walks back into the Jamia area of Delhi during the protest near the Holy Family hospital in Jamia. While the accused was arrested, the injured student was taken to the Holy Family hospital in the Jamia area. The identity of the accused has not yet been determined.
An armed man entered the Shaheen Bagh protest site on Tuesday and threatened anti-CAA agitators. A video of the alleged incident showed an armed man dominated by protesters.
According to police, the man was identified as Mohammad Luqmaan (50), residing in Shaheen Bagh and carrying an authorized weapon. They had gone to the protest site with a group of people to speak with protesters about the reopening of the road blocked by them, they said.
