The Bangladesh cricket team scored their first I-19 World Cup title from the ICC after beating three Indian cricket favorites in the JB Marks Oval summit clash, Potchefstroom on Sunday. Set a revised goal of 170 after a brief rain stoppage, Bangladesh won the game with 23 spare balls. Sent to the sledgehammer, India's batting wilted under pressure when an excellent bowling attack in Bangladesh shot the defending champions from a paltry 177 in 47.2 over.
Yasashvi Jaiswal (88 of 121 balls) was once again an exceptional player, but he did not seem to dominate once again the Bangladesh bowling unit whose new pitchers Shoriful Islam (2/31 in 10 over) and Tanzim Hasan Shakib ( 2/28 in 8.2 over) literally suffocated the Indians to run.
The first game, Parvez Hossain Emon, was the top scorer in Bangladesh with a 79 out of 47 balls, while the captain and goalkeeper Akbar Ali did not come out with 43 out of 77 deliveries.
The third winner Avishek Das (3/40 in 9 boosters) was the most successful petanque player in terms of numbers, but it was Shoriful's first spell with channeled aggression that put the Indians in the back from the start.
After a brief rain, in the end, the goal was revised in 170 out of 46 games, but Bangladesh reached 170 by 7 in 42.1 over to win the match.
For the Indian U19 team, Ravi Bishnoi was the most successful petanque player with figures of 4/30, while Sushant Mishra had 2/25.
India lost a record fifth title in its seventh final appearance.
