The Congress that has been supported for decades by Muslim voters has a lot to worry about, as its influence on the community is rapidly eroding in Delhi, according to the India Today-Axis My India exit survey.
The exit poll for the 2020 elections in Delhi found that up to 69% of Muslim voters in Delhi voted for the Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal, while only 15% placed their trust in Congress. Nine percent of Muslim voters voted for the BJP.
When asked about the reason for the AAP vote, Muslim voters said it was due to their ability to decide against the BJP. In other words, Delhi's Muslim voters voted for the AAP because they felt they were better prepared to defeat the BJP than Congress.
Among other communities, the India-Axis My India exit survey today found that AAP got 54% and 67% of the votes between OBC and Balmiki voters respectively. The percentage of BJP among these communities was 38% and 18% respectively.
Overall, the India-Axis My India exit survey today predicts that the Aam Aadmi game will win 63 seats and the BJP will win seven. Congress, as in 2015, is unlikely to get a seat in the 70-member assembly in Delhi.
