Rating: 3/5 Stars (Three stars)
Star Cast: Hina Khan, Rohan Shah, Mohit Malhotra
Director: Vikram Bhatt
Best Part: It's nice to see a movie that looks like a reality check on the Internet world. It is exciting, exciting and disturbing.
Worst Part: Useless songs, too many dramas that end up lengthening the film.
Analysis: Hacked is the story of Sameera Khanna, aka Sam (Hina Khan), editor in chief of a popular fashion and lifestyle magazine. Despite having an excellent job that pays exceptionally well, Sam is lonely but not helpless or weak. A 19-year-old boy named Vivek (Rohan Shah) who lives in the Sam neighborhood is obsessed with her. He follows her to the office and wherever he goes and clicks on her photos. Vivek and Sam are good friends, but she is not aware of her terrible intentions.
Sam is in love with a Bollywood actor Om Kapoor (Sid Makkar) who is married and gives him false hopes that he will soon divorce his wife. However, when he doesn't show up at his birthday party, Sam is devastated and seeks comfort in Vivek. Well, that's when it all collapses, since after that night Sam and Vivek spend together, their obsession only grows. Despite Sam's repetitive refusal and warning to get over him, he doesn't stray. He makes his life a hell where he loses everything he has in this crazy and dark Internet world that is now a reality and real-life for everyone.
Script Analysis: Vikram Bhatt is known for giving dark, exciting, daring, but also too dramatic stories. Hacked is a mix of everything. This time Bhatt took a very good argument by telling us what obsession can make a person do it without shame and regret. Using the Internet as the primary tool for telling the story also gives us an idea of the dark, scary and ugly side. The film has a very beautiful scene in which Hina Khan's character Sam fears the cameras after Vivek's constant stalking, stalking and threats. Look at every camera on the streets, cafes, buildings and keep saying "There is nowhere to hide." We could all think of living our lives in private, but there is always someone watching us through these cameras.
Some scenes will surprise you for sure. I was annoyed by Vivek's audacity that told Sam he had to accept that he needed it because he was helpless. But Vikram didn't show his weak main character at all. Sam returns it by saying "I don't need anyone or anyone's help." We have seen terrifying cases in real life where a man threatens and ruins a girl's life when she rejects her proposal. Hacked is exactly what it is and, in part, will remind you of the famous Netflix series "You" and "Black Mirror", but in a way too dramatic and desi.
The film has a strong dialogue that will remain with me: “Real life is no longer real. Only the internet is a reality. "However, the film will not bore you at all. It is fascinating and you want to know how far the character of Vivek can" hack "Sam's life and how it will come out. Although many things prove it incredible when it comes to piracy, it makes us even aware of and witnessing the extent to which the Internet can ruin a life. How you can use the ability to hack incorrectly, how some people cannot accept rejection and decide to harm the person they say they are in love with, how women come mistreated and assaulted for saying "No" and how we are in constant vigilance.
Star Performance Analysis: Hina Khan is a good actress and we saw him in his two shows: Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Kasautii Zindagii Kay. However, the performance in Bollywood films should be very different from what we see on television. But Hina makes a promising debut with a fantastic act. Whether it's emotions, anger or scenes where Sam is afraid, Hina has given a top-level performance. It looks impressive on the screen and we all know that his sense of fashion is incredible. Vikram Bhatt said from the start that Hina is perfect for her film since she is a good actress and admires her sense of fashion. Well, looking at her character, now I can understand why she saw her fit to play the main role.
Rohan Shah as Vivek is a boy you will end up hating. This is what the creators meant. How can a 19-year-old boy do such horrible things? As Sam "Shaitaan Ki Koi Umar Nahi Hoti" (A demon is not old) said, which is true and considering the crime and the news we have read in the past 8-9 years on crime against women, we can accept that age does not matter considering the intensity and atrocious nature of the crime. Rohan's Vivek, who looks cute and innocent, is a cruel, cruel, toxic and problematic man who has no limits on how he tortures and uses women for his pleasure. Mohit Malhotra, who plays Hina's childhood friend and neighbor, is also good. But I wish I could see him more since his talent seemed a little lost.
Direction and Music Analysis: Vikram Bhatt wanted to tell us the story of crime, harassment, obsessive lover and how the Internet is a new weapon that can be used to destroy lives. The intention is good enough, but we wish it didn't sound very dramatic. While I understand that Bollywood films are like that, but such a crucial problem could have given the message loud and clear with sharpness and finesse.
What didn't seem impressive to me is the use of songs that have lengthened the story unnecessarily. I am not saying that the songs are not good, they are beautiful melodies to be appreciated, but what is presented as a psychological thriller, these songs seemed forced to me, which influenced the narration.
Final Analysis and Stars: In general, Hacked is a very interesting watch since the topic is relevant and significant. It seems stretched and too dramatic in some parts, but the message is something not to be missed.
