London Police kill man wearing hoax device after 'terror-related' stabbings

London: London police called Sudesh Amman, 20, as the attacker responsible for stabbing two people in the Streatham area of south London on Sunday.

"Although the suspect was not formally identified, given the circumstances of the accident, we are sure it was Sudesh Amman," said Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Lucy D'Orsi.

Police previously described the attack as a terrorist incident believed to be "related to Islam".
Three people, including the two stinging victims and one whom the police believe was hit by glass after firing a police weapon, were taken to nearby hospitals, police said. The injuries ranged from fatal to minor, police said.
Amman is believed to be the man the police said he was carrying a "cheat device" attached to his body that stabbed two people on Streatham High Road before gunmen killed him.

The authorities expressed concern about the man's behavior, including language that suggested that he continue to maintain extremist views, but that they needed to be released under applicable laws, the source said. He was released under strict licensing conditions, including a curfew, and kept him under surveillance.

A British government source told http://crazykeeda.blogspot.com/ that the attacker was released from prison in recent days after serving about half of a three-year sentence for possession and distribution of extremist material.

On Monday, detectives from the Metropolitan Police Command against Terrorism began looking for two residential addresses in South London and Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire, according to a police statement.

In an apparent response to the attacker's previous terrorist convictions, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday that he will announce "further plans for fundamental changes in the system to deal with those who have been convicted of terrorist offenses".

"No arrests have been made and investigations continue to keep up," added the statement.

Attack was 'very sad and also quite scary'

Gabriel Vigo, a 24-year-old security officer at London Heathrow Airport who lives in the Streatham area, told http://crazykeeda.blogspot.com/ he heard gunshots. From the window of his apartment, he saw three bodies on the floor.

"The road also closed quickly and next to Boots was a body with something that looked like a device attached to it," he told http://crazykeeda.blogspot.com/ "It was square in shape but looked like it was glued to his shirt."

Bulhan told PA that he saw the man "persecuted for what I suppose was an undercover police officer since they were dressed in civilian clothes."
Another eyewitness, Gulled Bulhan, a 19-year-old student from Streatham, told the AP news agency that the man had a "machete and silver boats on his chest".

The London Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene shortly before 2:00 pm.

"We work closely with other emergency services and send a number of resources, including five ambulance teams, an advanced paramedic, an accident response officer, and a motorcycle responder, and the first of our doctors has arrived in four minutes "We also sent to London Air Ambulance," said a note.

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said he had been informed of the situation and was in contact with the metropolitan police and local representatives. "Terrorists try to divide us and destroy our lifestyle. Here in London, we will never let them be successful," tweeted Khan.

Johnson thanked the emergency services that responded to the Streatham accident. "My thoughts are with the injured and all affected," tweeted the Prime Minister.

Streatham Parliament Member Bell Ribeiro-Addy told us that the attack in his constituency is "very sad and also quite frightening." He said Streatham is a "wonderful, extremely diverse community and we have had no problems like this since I remember and have lived here all my life."

The videos shared on social networks showed a series of ambulances and police cars on the scene.

Local resident Dan Smith, who was on-site, told http://crazykeeda.blogspot.com/ that he saw a Medevac helicopter land in Tooting Common outside his apartment.

"On High Road, there was a large police presence and a wave of ambulances/paramedics on the way. The armed police behind the cordon and everyone were told to leave," he told http://crazykeeda.blogspot.com/ in a message.

Streatham High Road is a street full of shops. Police told people to stay away from the area and "use restraint when circulating photos and videos" of the incident, including pictures of the officers involved.
The road remained closed even after police said the accident was limited.

The accident occurred only two months after the police shot and killed a man on central London's London Bridge after an attack that left two people dead and three others injured.
