The AAP won 62 seats in the 70-member assembly, five seats from its 2015 account when it had won 67 seats. The BJP has won eight seats, five more than its count in previous elections.
AAP's victory came in the context of a campaign marked by strangeness and BJP's hopes of forming a government in the national capital vanished after nearly two decades. The victory, which raised Kejriwal's political stature, saw BJP amass the citizenship change law and protest in Shaheen Bagh against legislation that has continued over the past 50 days.
The AAP, which got 54.34 percent of the votes in 2015, was close to its previous performance and got 53.57 percent of the votes.
