Kashmiri Pandit woman lashes out at Vidhu Vinod Chopra at Shikara screening: I disown your film

Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Shikara: the untold story of Pandits cashmere sparked another controversy on Friday in its screening in Delhi. A woman from the Kashmir Pandash community collapsed after seeing the film and attacked the director for "marketing the situation of the cashmere pandits."

In the special screening, organized by Vidhu Vinod Chopra in a theater in Connaught Place, in Delhi, the Kashmiri Pandit woman broke and accused the director of having marketed her situation. After the end of the film, Chopra came to interact with the audience when the woman started yelling at him. The video of the woman launching herself against the director is going viral.

According to the woman, Shikara does not describe the true suffering of the community, including genocide, mass rape and mass murder committed by radical Islamic groups. "Ye aapka commercialism aapko mubarak ho (Congratulations on your commercialism). Like the Kashmir Pandit, I don't like your film, I don't like it," said the woman.

Not only did the representation of her community, but she also questioned the director's decision to choose Muslim actors to play the main roles in the film. He said: "You could have chosen Kashmiri Pandit actors, but you chose to take Muslim actors. Why did you interpret this policy?"

He added that Chopra has polarized the suffering of cashmere pandits. To sympathize with the lady, Chopra said she will work on the sequel to the film. He said: "Truth has two sides. People have different perspectives on the same issues."
