Commotion In Shaheen Bagh As Burqa-Clad Woman Raises Suspicion

New Delhi: a woman dressed as a burqa was brought to the Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, the heart of protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA, this morning after her 24-hour presence woke up suspicious.

The woman, identified as Gunja Kapoor, raised suspicions when she continued to ask "too many questions," eyewitnesses said. Some protesters insisted on recording it and found a camera. This led to confusion and several women caught her. Later, the police arrived at the protest site and took her away.

Gunja Kapoor, who calls herself the curator of the YouTube channel "Right Narrative", is followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Twitter. When reporters asked him why he had a camera, Gunja turned around and said, "This isn't the time for the media. Go!"

The images showed the woman surrounded by protesters as the police tried to pacify them.

Last week, a 25-year-old man identified as Kapil Gujjar allegedly shouted "Jai Sri Ram" as he shot near police barricades near the Shaheen Bagh protest site. Kapil Gujjar is a member of the AAP, police said Tuesday. The statement sparked a war of words between the APA and the BJP before the Assembly elections on February 8.

Protests swept the country against the AAC or citizenship law (amendment), which makes religion a criterion for citizenship. Critics say the law discriminates against Muslims since only non-Muslims from neighboring Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh can become Indian citizens if they flee religious persecution and enter India before 2015.
